The Situation
Travel & Hospitality SaaS is a crowded market, with well-funded competitors targeting the same buyers. At the same time, more prospects are using ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude to compare platforms and explore alternatives before turning to traditional search.
This company had a trusted product but little visibility in the AI-generated answers shaping those early buying decisions.
Rather than launch a broad content overhaul, the strategy focused on a targeted proof of concept. One category-defining listicle was created to test a simple question: could a single, strategically built piece of content meaningfully increase the brand’s visibility in AI-generated answers?

What We Did
Audited the brand from an SEO and GEO perspective.
Before starting GEO work, we audited the SEO foundation we'd already laid for this client to confirm it was sturdy. We then conducted a GEO diagnostic by testing 48 prompts across various AI engines. Prompts included unbranded category questions like “top hospitality & travel software” and competitor-alternative questions like “alternatives to a competitor.”
Closed the technical GEO gaps before publishing a word of content.
With the SEO foundation already confirmed sturdy, we cleared any remaining technical hygiene issues and layered in the signals built specifically for AI crawlers and agents: added additional or missing schema markup so both search crawlers and agentic browsing tools could parse the site's structure correctly. We also improved Cumulative Layout Shift and confirmed the sitemap was current, submitted, and indexed, with robots.txt updated to allow AI crawlers full access.
Ran a 48-prompt GEO diagnostic
We researched and compiled a list of prompts across the main category, alternatives, and the brand to analyze where the SaaS ranked across leading AI engines. We then analyzed the data to confirm where the visibility gap was.
Established the baseline from which to measure results.
On the client's top product-category question, brand visibility sat at 0% on Gemini and in the single digits on Claude (5.6%). Competitor-alternative questions told a more mixed story: Gemini visibility averaged 18.5% across the tracked comparisons, while Claude stayed at 0% across the same set.
Google's AI Overview, which draws heavily on the same search rankings and domain signals as traditional SEO, told a different story: it surfaced the brand 83% of the time. That contrast, strong in AI-powered search and nearly invisible in AI chat results, confirmed the existing SEO foundation was solid and pointed straight at what was missing: the content signals conversational AI engines specifically reward.
Built a category-defining listicle.
Published mid-month, the piece answered the exact best-of and head-to-head comparison questions buyers were feeding AI engines within the client's product category, in a direct, numbered, scannable format built for AI extraction.
Tracked visibility across all the engines bi-weekly, not just rankings.
Ran a recurring GEO visibility audit across Gemini and Claude to measure whether the brand was being cited in AI-generated answers, not just whether it ranked, and used engine-by-engine results to guide what to build next.
What The Data Tells Us
The visibility jump tracked directly to the listicle launch, and it happened fast. Within a few weeks of its launch, Claude visibility on the top product-category question had already climbed from 5.6% to 100%. Gemini reached 83.3% in the same timeframe and touched 100% within 30 days, starting from a true 0% baseline. Organic impressions on the listicle page climbed to approximately 1,120. AI visibility and organic impressions moved together, not independently, which is exactly what you’d expect when the technical foundation and the content are doing their jobs in sequence.
AI referral traffic engagement suggests readers were treating the page as a resource, taking their time to read it carefully. The Claude visitors spent an average of 6.7 minutes on the site. That kind of engagement paid off: AI referral traffic converted this program’s first contact. This is an early signal worth watching, but it confirms the visibility-to-conversion path works end to end, and a category listicle can get you there.
