The Company
AuctionMethod is a specialized auction software platform built by auctioneers, for auctioneers. The team has spent more than a decade building flat-fee, white-labeled, commission-free software around how auction businesses actually run. The company offers two distinct paths. For everyday auctioneers, it provides a plug-and-play SaaS product that launches in days for everyday auctioneers. Custom auction software development is available for larger firms whose workflows don’t fit off-the-shelf tools.
AuctionMethod serves auction professionals across categories with deep specialization needs and entrenched legacy competitors including estate sales, liquidators, fine art and collectibles, vehicle and equipment auctions, industrial, salvage, and business surplus. The team partnered with Bay Leaf Digital in April 2025 to increase brand recognition and gain market share by building AI search visibility from the ground up.
The Challenge
Strong product. Limited visibility. A category about to be rewritten by AI.
When AuctionMethod partnered with us in April 2025, the platform had long-time loyal users and a category-relevant feature set, but search visibility was working against the team. Organic clicks were running at less than a quarter of today’s volume. Branded search barely registered. An auction software category crowded with entrenched competitors, each with deeper backlink profiles and a multi-year head start in organic rankings, made growth difficult to achieve.
The website itself reinforced the visibility problem. Feature-level and vertical-specific pages were missing. The navigation was confusing. Trust signals such as stats, certifications, and third-party reviews were inconsistent across the site. Gated content was minimal. An auction house owner researching platforms could not get the answers they needed in one visit, and the site offered few clean paths from research to trial or meeting.
Then came the additional pressure of generative AI. B2B buyers in auction software were turning to ChatGPT, Gemini, and other LLMs to shortlist platforms. If AuctionMethod wasn’t being cited inside those AI answers, the brand wouldn’t be in the consideration set at all. The window for first-mover advantage in AI mentions was closing.
We knew what AuctionMethod needed to succeed: increased AI search visibility via a coordinated, three-lever rebuild across SEO, GEO, and website conversion, all running concurrently with each move compounding the others.
The Solution
Three levers, one strategy
We mapped the gaps and the opportunities. From there, a single coordinated plan across three workstreams was necessary. We implemented a search rebuild for commercial visibility, a Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) workstream to win citations inside AI-generated answers, and a website conversion overhaul to capture the traffic both channels would send.
Lever One: SEO Rebuild for Commercial Visibility
Knowing that this is where search engines look first, we started with site structure, schema, and technical foundations. Our team added structured data across the site so Google could parse AuctionMethod’s product, feature, and pricing pages accurately, closed crawl and indexation gaps, and reorganized URL architecture to surface commercial-intent pages.
Next, we built content matched to buyer-journey intent. Our team published category listicles like “Best Auction Software,” gated lead-driving assets, and educational long-form pieces aimed at auction professionals. The new content footprint drove site-wide organic clicks at more than 4x year over year, with category education pieces (“What Is a Proxy Bid Auction?”), commercial comparisons, and product-led listicles each carrying their share of the lift.
What’s ranking now in organic search (as of April 2026):
#1 for “auction management software” (320 monthly searches, commercial intent)
#1 for “auction software” (1,300 monthly searches, high-intent)
#2 for “what is a proxy bid” (880 monthly searches, top-of-funnel research)
Top 10 average positions for product-build queries such as “auction website builder,” “online auction website builder,” “build auction website,” and “auction website developers.” This is up from positions 50–90 in early 2025, providing evidence that buyers researching the white-label and custom-build path are now finding AuctionMethod first
116 keywords ranking in positions 4–10, the next wave of page-one candidates
Branded organic search clicks roughly tripled (~2.9x) in the same window. That number matters more than total traffic. It tells us prospects are typing “AuctionMethod” into Google directly, a clear signal that demand is being built, not just rented from Google.
Lever Two: Generative Engine Optimization for AI Search
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is its own workstream, not a side effect of SEO. AI engines surface, cite, and summarize content differently than Google indexes it. The auction software category was one where the first brand to claim AI search visibility could lock in long-term advantage.
Our team restructured content to match how large language models retrieve and cite information. We built listicles and comparison pages engineered to be the source AI engines reach for when answering “best auction software” queries. We optimized for snippet-friendly structure, factual density, and the kinds of cross-references AI engines look for when judging authority. And we monitored citation data, refining content where citations were thin.
What AI says now (as of April 2026):
21% share of voice across the tracked auction software category; roughly 1.5x the next-closest competitor and 3x compared to a basket of other direct competitors
61% brand visibility across AI engines, with consistent visibility above 70% on ChatGPT and Gemini for shortlist prompts like “best auction software,” “auction management platform comparison,” and “auction software for charity fundraisers”
Most-cited domain in the category, with roughly 3x the AI citation volume of leading review sites G2 and Capterra, and 4–6x the citation volume of direct competitor domains
#1 AI Overview citations inside Google search for 50+ category queries, including “auction software” (1,300/mo), “auction management software” (320), “auction website builder” (140), “custom auction software” (70), and “online auction software pricing” (90) — Google’s own generative answer is now sourcing AuctionMethod for the most commercial-intent queries in the category
When an auction house owner asks ChatGPT, “What’s the best auction software for my business?” the answer now includes AuctionMethod. That visibility turns into qualified leads before a prospect ever lands on the site.
Lever Three: Website Conversion Optimization
AI search visibility means nothing if a website can’t turn visitors into qualified pipeline. We rebuilt AuctionMethod’s site to convert at every level of the funnel.
Our team added new feature-level and vertical-specific pages so a prospect researching their exact use case could land on a page written for them, not a generic homepage. Each page anchors a distinct audience.
- /admin-auction-management-software owns admin workflow searches, earning a #1 AI Overview placement for “auction management software” (320/mo).
- /auction-website-builder captures the white-label audience, earning #1 AI Overview placements across five builder queries — “auction website builder,” “auction site builder,” “online auction website builder,” “custom auction website,” and “pre built auction website.”
- /custom-auction-software-development now serves prospects researching custom software engagements — a #1 AI Overview for “custom auction software” and top-10 organic rankings for “auction software development” and “auction software developers,” the queries larger firms use when shortlisting dev partners.
We rolled out a resources hub of thought-leadership content for auction professionals, including webinars, video tutorials, eBooks, checklists, and newsletter signup. Each format matches a different stage of the buyer journey, from quick checklist downloads for early research to webinars for active evaluation. Gated assets feed the sales team declared-intent leads, while the newsletter keeps top-of-funnel prospects engaged until they are ready to evaluate.
We added trust items across every major page. These include live customer stats, integration logos, third-party review badges, and pull-quote testimonials placed at the conversion moment. Following B2B SaaS best practices, we published a transparent pricing page that gives auction professionals the budget clarity they need before starting a free trial and shortens sales cycles for the AuctionMethod team.
The Results
A category leader in 12 months
Twelve months into the engagement, AuctionMethod sits at the top of the auction software category across both organic search and AI search visibility, with a website built to capture the traffic both channels send.
Visibility is the leading indicator. Lead volume is the proof. SEO-sourced trial starts and SQLs have grown roughly 8x in the trailing six-month window, with the most recent month delivering more than 10x the funnel volume of the pre-engagement baseline. AI-sourced leads went from zero to a steady multi-engine flow as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Grok are now each surfacing AuctionMethod to prospects who arrive ready to evaluate. Branded direct leads roughly doubled, offering the cleanest signal that the visibility work is translating into intent.
